Dallas Farmers Market is kicking off National Farmers Market Week with family-friendly activities at the weekend market! Come take a bite out of summer at the 2nd Annual Watermelon Festival on Saturday, August 4th. With plenty to do for children and adults, this is one festival that boasts fun for all!
Get a taste of this season's heavy hitters – Sugar Babies, Truck Busters, Summer Gold and more. Watermelon eating contests, watermelon bowling, seed spitting contests, and classic family favorites will keep the celebration going!
Besides having mounds of melons for picking out and taking home, the festival will have a full day filled with family fun activities, including a barn-yard petting zoo, watermelon themed kids crafts, storytime, tastings, demonstrations, dancing and live music on stage.
Watermelon Festival runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, August 4th. You can also join a Farmer Class with The Texas Farm Bureau at 7:30 a.m. Connecting Farm to City will also be planting watermelon seeds with the kids!
Visitors should also bring their market bag, as the weekend market will be in full swing. Farms, ranches, artisanal foods, and artisan craft vendors will be in the mix too. There’s always something fun to do at the Dallas Farmers Market, and the Watermelon Festival is no exception! For more information, visit www.dallasfarmersmarket.org.
While we provide plenty of on-site entertainment at Oxford at Iron Horse Apartments in North Richland Hills, Texas, we believe that having fun within your larger community is equally as important. Do just that during this event on Saturday!
